Amok restaurant is located right in the heart of Siem Reap town. At one side, you can overlook the popular Old Market and at the other end, you can watch the world go by in the Pub Street Alley West. We share the same name as one of the most popular and traditional Khmer dishes, the Amok. The word “amok” refers to how the dish is prepared, the process of steaming cooking a curry in banana leaves. The thick curried sauce is a staple of the Khmer diet and is also popular in neighbouring Laos and Thailand.
We have a great reputation for specialising in cooking original and traditional amok dishes. You can try amok recipes from Siem Reap and other provinces around Cambodia. Each recipe is prepared in its own way including the popular Battambang and Sihanoukville Amok dishes.
Here at Amok, we take great pride in ensuring that we have high hygiene standards. We are so confident of our ability to provide great food in a hygienic kitchen, that we’ve opened it up to the public. You can see our kitchen team preparing your meal from the comfort of your own seat!
Our building is just as interesting as our food. The restaurant is located in a listed building which has been registered as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
We have many options available including meat dishes, fish, and even vegetarian options.
We look forward to seeing you at Amok restaurant.
